Created as part of the 2021 edition of The Crystal Ship street art festival in Ostend, this mural transforms the facade of Sous-Sol into a vibrant visual statement. Located in the heart of the city’s nightlife district, the cocktail bar becomes both canvas and context, setting the tone for a work infused with colour, rhythm and a sense of escape.

A lively location

Situated along Ostend’s vibrant seaside streets, the mural brings a burst of energy to its urban surroundings. Framed by the movement of nightlife and the proximity of the sea, the work stands out as a bright intervention within the coastal cityscape, drawing attention from passersby day and night.

Shaken, not stirred

Tropical mix

The composition combines playful shapes, bold colour blocks, and tropical elements, echoing the visual language of cocktails and nightlife. Elements appear layered and mixed, creating a sense of movement and spontaneity.  A gemstone-like form subtly references The Crystal Ship festival, anchoring the mural within its cultural context and linking it to Ostend, the Pearl of the North Sea.

Colour on the rocks

Nightlife energy

Bright contrasts and saturated colours create a dynamic image that echoes the atmosphere of the surrounding nightlife. Organic forms and graphic patterns interact in a rhythm that feels both fluid and electric, capturing the spirit of celebration and escape associated with the seaside. More than a mural, the piece serves as a visual extension of its environment, reflecting the character of Ostend’s nightlife and embedding itself in the city's experience after dark.
