PRULLARIA, 2018
Finding inspiration in the rich history of interior Kortrijk, an allegedly easy task only complicated by the abundance of choice. In preparation for The New Masters we set out to define the quintessential Belgian interior, only to find there is no such thing.
No two Belgian homes are alike. Our field research showed the interiors of our country are rarely minimal or consistent within one style. Inside these Belgian houses we mostly found eclectic worlds filled to the brim with sentimental curiosities and hidden gems. These interiors are defined by their own unique amalgamation of diverse styles, disregarding the conventional aesthetics of interior design. It seems the Belgian is eclectic by nature and not afraid to show it.
This maximalist eclecticism can be found everywhere; from the small countryside cottages to the high rise city apartments. It is a characteristic quality that unites the entire country. Relating this to TOYKYO, many parallels can be drawn; a seemingly incompatible team that can create magic by juxtaposing styles and personalities. For The New Masters we decided to embrace our inner eclectic and showcase Toykyo’s personal collection of PRULLARIA.
